Our family lives in the Invenergy Foward Energy industrial wind project near the town of Byron in Fond du Lac County. We've lived in our home for 40 years.
In 2007 industrial wind turbines started going up around our house. We were told they wouldn't be any louder than a refrigerator. The closest one to our house, turbine #4, started spinning in March of 2008. There are 86 turbines in this project and each of them is 40 stories tall.
The following is a diary of what has happened to our lives since the turbines started turning. On this tumblr page I have my current noise log. Below it, if you scroll down, you can read my noise log from 2008 for comparison.
In upcoming months I'll post my 2009, 2010, and 2011 noise logs on separate tumblr pages.
We were told we'd soon get used to the noise. As you will see, this hasn't happened.
For reference I use the turbine numbers the wind company, Invenergy, has given them.
Turbine # 4 is 1560 feet behind our home. Turbine # 3a is about 500 feet mostly east and a little north of turbine #4.
Turbine #6 is about ¾ of mile to the northwest of our home.
Across the road, mostly south and slightly west is turbine #73 at a distance of 2480 feet.
Down the hill to the west is turbine #74a which is about ¾ of a mile away.
At certain times we can hear all five of them from inside our house.
